About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Research, Quality and Academics/CNE, supporting the Board of
Directors, Directors and Managers and co leading the Ethics team, the Director, Quality and Risk Management
provides oversight in the development of the Quality Framework, Enterprise Risk Management Framework and leads
the Hospital's risk management, patient safety, quality measurement, corporate compliance and process
improvement responsibilitiesand initiatives.
Acting as the primary champion of clinical quality/risk measurement for the implementation of best practices to
ensure quality improvement, the Director, Quality and Risk Management guides a portfolio that is responsible for
identifying patient safety issues, limiting legal exposure and coordinating claims reviews through monitoring,
analyzing, reporting and facilitating the improvement of clinical processes and outcomes performance.
This position requires a dynamic and creative individual with imagination that thrives using people focused,
innovative approaches. As a "systems thinking" leader in quality improvement and risk management, this person's
energy, ideas, and vision set the tone to further enhance the quality of patient care and experiences and motivate
others to continually enhance quality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
* Bachelors degree in health care administration field, Masters preferred;
* Knowledge of Accreditation Canada standards, criteria and processes; and
* Certification in Lean or related quality improvement methodology is considered an asset.
Experience
* Well rounded background with at least 5 years experience in a quality administration / management position.
Skills (in addition to behavioural competencies identified above)
* Strong leadership skills;
* Skilled motivator;
* Able to organize and prioritize many tasks efficiently;
* Skilled communicator, both oral and written;
* Excellent problem solving ability;
* Excellent change champion and facilitator
* Clinical credibility and experience preferred;
* Respect for all roles in an interprofessional care model;
* Computer skills.
Knowledge
* Understanding of current health care environment and its challenges;
* Understanding of underlying principles in health ethics;
* Thorough knowledge of clinical and operational issue, interrelationships and interdependency;
* In depth knowledge of care processes, decision making, quality control, process improvement, and clinical
information systems;
* In depth knowledge of quality management, implementation science, risk management, change management and
project management;
* Understands program development.
Salary Range: $74.179 to 87.270
The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets

Criminal Records Check (CRC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions; and proof of
