Position: Post Majority Support Services Worker - Full Time Permanent

The Innu Round Table Secretariat is dedicated to the collective well-being of Sheshatshiu and Mushuau Innu. Focused on the well-being of Innu children, youth, and families, the Sheshatshiu and Mushuau Innu First Nations have established Prevention Services as the agency responsible for developing and delivering child and family support services. The Agency is Innu-led, utilizing
a holistic approach to wellness, and working towards full Innu jurisdiction over child, youth, and family services.
Post Majority Support Services (PMSS) is a branch of the Prevention Agency, developed for eligible Innu youth from both Sheshatshiu and Mushuau communities. It aims to bridge gaps in services for youth transitioning out of care, ensuring they receive the support needed to overcome challenges related to basic needs, education, mental health, and more.
About the Position
Working fulltime in Natuashish and reporting to the Assistant Director of Innu Child & Family Services, the PMSS Worker bridges Innu cultural knowledge and practices with support services to Innu youth, aged 18 to 26, transitioning out of care from the Department of Families and Affordability (formerly CSSD). The PMSS Worker is familiar with Innu culture and the services available to youth within the community of Natuashish.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct outreach to identify and engage Natuashish
youth who are eligible for PMSS services. -
Facilitate connections between youth and Natuashish Innu Elders, knowledge keepers, and cultural resources.

Assist in designing and implementing culturally relevant activities and interventions for youth, including land-based programs specific to the Natuashish area.

Collaborate with other service providers in Natuashish, including the Healing Lodge, to ensure comprehensive support for youth.

Contribute to the development and refinement of PMSS programs and services, ensuring they align with
Natuashish Innu cultural values and practices. -
Maintain accurate records of interactions with youth, cultural activities, and program outcomes.
Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge and lived experience of Natuashish Innu culture, traditions, and community life.

Experience working with Innu youth and families in
Natuashish, preferably in a support or advocacy role. -
Exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.

Fluency in Innu Aimun is an asset.

Must provide Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check upon request.

Valid driver’s license.
