Senior Project Manager - Enterprise Application Modernization / Capital Projects

Job Description
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Sr. Project Manager who can be deployed flexibly across multiple in-flight projects — including covering for colleagues, picking up overflow work, and supplementing teams under strain — rather than owning one project end-to-end. The majority of project work would be in the world of legacy-to-cloud and SaaS modernization.
Responsibilities
Typical projects follow a consistent pattern: legacy/end-of-life systems being modernized into cloud-based SaaS platforms. The PM in this role will likely juggle multiple concurrent projects rather than focus on a single initiative. Candidates should be comfortable being "parachuted in" to support projects already in motion, picking up threads on critical-path items, and working alongside an existing lead PM rather than always owning the full project independently. Shorter-term or partial engagements are explicitly welcomed: e.g., providing focused support across 2–3 projects simultaneously for a period of months, rather than a single dedicated assignment.
What We're Looking For
Experience delivering legacy-to-cloud / SaaS modernization projects, ideally with exposure to integration teams, data governance, solution architects, and business stakeholders. Comfort operating in ambiguity — this role is intentionally not scoped to one project, so adaptability and the ability to quickly ramp up on unfamiliar initiatives is essential. Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams or projects simultaneously. Strong relationship-building and social capital skills, balanced with the ability to make and hold firm decisions when needed — not conflict-avoidant, not overly aggressive.
