Full-Time | Permanent $44.00/hr (Increasing to $45.00+/hr) + Shift Premiums + Comprehensive Benefits Own the Automation. Solve the Problems. Drive Reliability. We're partnering confidentially with a global manufacturer seeking an experienced Automation Technician to support a highly automated, continuous manufacturing operation in London, Ontario. This is not a reactive maintenance position. We're looking for someone who can independently diagnose automation issues, modify PLC programs, support commissioning activities, and lead root cause investigations with minimal supervision. Newly created role supporting plant expansion and operational growth Modern, highly automated manufacturing environment Competitive hourly compensation with scheduled wage increase Shift premiums where applicable Company retirement savings program Comprehensive health and wellness benefits Professional development and technical training Stable, long-term career opportunity with advancement potential What You'll Be Doing Automation & Controls Independently troubleshoot PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and industrial control systems Modify PLC programs and support automation system improvements Diagnose electrical and control system faults across automated production equipment Troubleshoot instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, and conductivity devices Support industrial communication networks and control architecture Commissioning & Equipment Reliability Support equipment installation, commissioning, and production start-ups Validate automation systems following equipment modifications Optimize machine performance and improve production reliability Reduce downtime through proactive troubleshooting and technical improvements Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement Lead technical troubleshooting using structured root cause analysis Identify recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions Recommend automation upgrades that improve safety, quality, and production efficiency Partner with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Quality on continuous improvement initiatives Safety & Compliance Perform all work in accordance with electrical safety standards and plant procedures Maintain detailed documentation of troubleshooting activities, PLC modifications, and corrective actions Participate in preventive maintenance, audits, and equipment reliability initiatives Support a culture focused on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement What We're Looking For Required Diploma or certification in Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline Minimum 3 years of hands-on industrial automation experience in a continuous manufacturing environment Proven experience independently programming, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC-controlled automation systems Strong troubleshooting experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and industrial controls Experience supporting equipment commissioning, start-ups, and automation improvements Demonstrated ability to perform advanced root cause analysis and resolve complex equipment issues with minimal supervision Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and P&IDs Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills Preferred Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 Omron Sysmac Siemens TIA Portal Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs Continuous process manufacturing Medical Device Pharmaceutical Food & Beverage Chemical Processing Packaging Automation Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience Who Will Thrive Here?
