SALARY RANGE: $105,007 – $125,186

The Manager, Health Information Management is responsible for the operational leadership of core Health Information Management (HIM) services, including Health Records, Release of Information, Medical Transcription, Records Management and HIM Coding & Abstracting across Brightshores health System.

The role ensures the integrity, availability, and quality of the health record, supports timely and accurate clinical documentation and coding practices, and embeds privacy compliance into day-to-day HIM operations. The Manager works in close partnership with Clinical Leadership, Medical Affairs, Decision Support and other administrative leaders to support high-quality data for patient care, reporting, and planning.

Qualifications

Required

Post-secondary degree. Minimum two years of management experience in a unionized healthcare environment. Minimum of five years of progressive experience in Health Information Management, including health records and coding/abstracting functions Demonstrated experience managing chart completion processes and documentation standards Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records Systems Strong knowledge of HIM legislation, documentation standards, and privacy principles as applied to operational practice. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communications skills Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes

Preferred

Membership in the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) Certification in Privacy (e.g. CIPP/C) Experience working with Oracle/Cerner EMR Experience supporting coding quality initiatives, documentation improvement, or data quality programs. Knowledge of digital health and information governance frameworks
