Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory's communities.

QEC-25-040- Logistics Clerk - Term – 1.5 yrs

Based out of Baker Lake, Nunavut and reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, the Logistics Clerk is responsible for providing data entry and administrative support to satisfy internal controls and for compliance against QEC policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Date stamp all invoices for data entry received from A/P or email
  • Segregate invoices by accounting period (open or closed) for proper posting
  • Receive regular/contract invoices into GP software application ensuring proper distribution coding, item quantities, and Vendor ID
  • Ensure proper distribution coding, item quantities, Vendor ID of all receiving entries performed by staff in the three (3) Regional centers - correct when necessary
  • Ensure copies of vendor invoices are distributed to the proper Purchasing Clerk and to the Senior Buyer
  • Receive PPD invoices into GP software application ensuring proper procedures followed for all reconciliations and payables
  • File purchase orders when receiving transactions are completed
  • Organize vendor invoices by Purchaser and Region for filing, furtherance to the proper authority
  • Organize Visa statements with distribution coding and send to A/P; and
  • Apply proper distribution coding to all air freight and match purchase orders.
  • Matching of vendor invoices to receipts and Purchase Orders to ensure accuracy of posted batches for proper A/P processing and
  • Ability to recognize vendor issues and works towards a solution for all stakeholders.
  • Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders responsible for the procurement of sealift supplies
  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt of goods to the applicable community; and
  • Responsible for verification of receipt notices from 3rd party agents.
  • Other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • High school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of office administration experience (Accounts Payable, Data Entry, Purchasing, Office Administration)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts, the public, and work as part of a team with colleagues and supervisors.

Assets:

  • Post-secondary education in office or business administration is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language and culture.
  • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

Equivalencies consisting of a combination of related education and experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $81,666.00 to $92,020.50 per year, a northern living allowance of $24,281 per annum, eligibility for overtime, and a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension program. This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union.

This competition is restricted to Nunavut Inuit residing in Baker Lake.
