Shared Hospital Laboratory Inc. (SHL) is an independent corporation owned and operated by Scarborough Health Network, North York General Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Job Description Position Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Manager of Microbiology Department in the Shared Hospital Laboratory, you will be responsible for performing all routine duties and special procedures in Microbiology Department.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in Microbiology, with at least 6 months of Bacteriology experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Total Quality Management System and apply this knowledge in ensuring the release of good quality results.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
  • Preferred knowledge of automated identification and susceptibility analyzers like Phoenix and Bruker Maldi-TOF.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHL’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards.
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community.
