Investment Analyst / Associate
About the role
About Morningside We are a specialist private investment firm providing liquidity solutions to private equity funds and their investors through two primary strategies:
GP-led Secondaries: Investing in proven, existing PE assets in partnership with high-quality sponsors while providing liquidity to their investors.
NAV-based Financing: Providing lending and structured solutions backed by portfolios of PE assets.
Not familiar with these? That's okay. We focus on innovative and fast-growing segments of the private equity market. We offer our investors best-in-class risk-adjusted returns through unique strategies and seeking overlooked opportunities.
We maintain an entrepreneurial culture, but we aren't a startup. Morningside has a proven track record, committed capital, and approximately $600M in AUM.
Why Work for Us We aren't your typical investment firm. If you are tired of the hierarchy and culture of traditional shops, Morningside offers a different path:
Interesting Work: Making a good investment is intellectually satisfying. We focus on answering the important questions and digging deep where it matters, rather than checking boxes and managing politics. Outsized Impact: We are a lean, growing firm. You won't be a cog in a machine — you will work directly with the senior team, seeing every facet of the deal lifecycle and getting active investment experience. No Busy Work: We value substance over style. We spend our time on work that actually impacts our investment sourcing and decision-making. Efficiency matters. Balance: High performance doesn't have to come at the expense of your personal life. We work hard and move fast, but we have genuine respect for work-life balance and individual autonomy. Compensation: We offer market-competitive compensation and earlier carried interest participation than our peer-group firms.
The Role You will play a critical role in the firm's investment activities and will be expected to think like an investor from day one.
Invest Conduct research and analysis to evaluate investment opportunities, including past and projected financial performance, industry dynamics, management quality, investment merits/risks, and expected returns. Build comprehensive financial models, test assumptions, and investigate sensitivities. Perform valuation analysis, including LBO models, precedent transactions, comparable company analysis, and relative value compared to benchmarks. Meet with PE sponsors and portfolio company management to review performance, strategy, and outlook. Work with third-party advisors (legal, accounting, industry experts) on due diligence. Assist in drafting and presenting investment recommendations and support the closing process.
Source Assist in proactive sourcing efforts, including target research and database maintenance. Track and engage with investment intermediaries.
Monitor Track post-investment performance and assist the IR team with reporting and fundraising needs.
What We Look For We are looking for a self-starter who is intellectually curious and technically sound.
A Solid Foundation: You have an undergraduate degree and 1 to 5 years of relevant professional experience including meaningful exposure to private equity. You possess a strong technical foundation including deep accounting knowledge, precise financial modeling, and the ability to write clear, persuasive investment memos. A Sense of Ownership: Our focus on substance and efficiency means your output matters. We need someone with uncompromising attention to detail. You don't just complete tasks — you take full responsibility for the integrity of your work. An Investor Mindset: You have a demonstrable interest in investing. You possess the natural curiosity to dig deeper than the surface level of a CIM or a data room. Intellectual Agility: Our corner of the investment world is specialized and moves quickly. You need the ability to climb steep learning curves — absorbing complex industry dynamics, legal structures, and unique deal terms.
Think you're a fit? Submit your resume with a short 2–3 sentence note (we prefer that over a long cover letter) to career@morningside.capital with the subject line "Application - Investment Analyst / Associate".
