Job Title: Millwright

Reports to: Manager, Facility Performance

Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Facility Performance and supervised by the Supervisor, Building Mechanical and Airport Operational Systems, the Millwright plays a critical hands-on role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of the airport’s mechanical systems and industrial equipment.

This position is responsible for the repair, maintenance, rebuilding, fabrication, and installation of machinery and systems including baggage conveyance systems, passenger boarding bridges, mechanical door systems, and other building mechanical systems. The Millwright will monitor and assess equipment to detect and prevent failures, identify practical solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on critical airport systems and components, including the Baggage Handling System, Passenger Boarding Bridges, building door systems, hydraulic subsystems, public mechanical systems and motor-driven equipment and systems.
  • Perform documented inspections, servicing, testing, and verification of equipment against manufacturer specifications and best practices.
  • Record maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) to management, colleagues, and contractors, and mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities align with safety regulations and operational requirements.

Selection Criteria include:

  • Valid Province of Manitoba Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) License – Red Seal certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in large industrial or commercial facilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, hoists, and electrical motors.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and construction documents.
  • Proven ability to interact with the public, tenants, and contractors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Proficiency with computers and data entry.
  • Proven ability to work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and with heavy or awkward equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Condition of employment is the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card.
