THE POSITION Keyera is currently seeking a Senior Advisor, Turnarounds to join our Calgary based Turnaround Management Office. The Senior Advisor, Turnarounds will establish tools, techniques, and practices to effectively scope, plan, execute, close-out, evaluate and continuously improve turnarounds at Keyera. The Senior Advisor, Turnarounds will work with field-based Operations & Maintenance teams to build, train and integrate turnaround teams followed with support and advice to those teams on the application of the tools, techniques, and practices to successfully conduct turnarounds.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Keyera’s Values & Cultural Behaviors.

  • Leverage and employ Keyera’s Operational Excellence Management System.

  • Chair the Turnaround Network of Excellence (NOE) Committee, established to identify, adapt, build and continuously improve the tools, techniques, training as well as the roles & responsibilities for planning & executing turnarounds at Keyera.

  • Maintain, and govern a scalable Turnaround Management System by implementing structured compliance checks, tracking adherence across all assets, and ensuring all workflows, RACIs, templates, and key deliverables remain current, controlled, and consistently applied.

  • Establish, monitor, and report on compliance with all stage‑gate requirements, roles and responsibilities, deliverables, and communication standards, including performing routine audits of adoption, identifying gaps across sites, and driving corrective action to ensure consistent application of the Turnaround Management System.

  • Coach and help turnaround teams in the application of the Turnaround Management office (TMO) and work packaging.

  • Validate skills and competencies of those leading Turnarounds.

  • Own the corporate turnaround master schedule, ensuring schedule quality, long‑range predictability, resource leveling, and risk-adjusted forecasting.

  • Work with Asset Integrity and Process Safety Management to establish and maintain a risk-based approach to Turnaround Interval Planning that also considers business and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with the Health and Safety team to ensure compliance and consistency around application of all safety expectations during Turnarounds.

  • Increase overall understanding of integrity management / risk at all facilities.

  • Work with the Training Group to ensure people filling key roles in the next round of Turnarounds are assigned competencies to be completed as necessary.

  • Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to establish

  • Partnerships with a selection of vendors and service providers.

  • Provide feedback to SCM on contractor performance

  • Build and maintain relationships with various turnaround support services.

  • Maintain communication with all Keyera stakeholder / resource groups.

  • Maintain alignment with the Operations Superintendents and Area Managers to support efficient planning and execution of Turnarounds.

  • Maintain turnaround industry intelligence.

  • Attend T/A conferences / information sessions / courses.

  • Build and maintain industry service provider knowledge /relationships.

  • Keyera representative on industry T/A committees where applicable (i.e. ROSE Committee / Construction Owners Association Alberta / Alberta Council of Turnaround Industry Maintenance Stakeholders).

Qualifications The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service-oriented with the following qualifications:

  • 10 to 15 years of previous experience in managing and coordinating large industrial turnarounds in the energy industry.
  • Project management experience specifically; Demonstrated ability to improve predictability through mature scheduling practices, forecast accuracy analysis, scope freeze discipline, and structured cost and workforce planning aligned to turnaround readiness criteria.
  • Previous experience with project management software in developing and managing turnaround schedules.
  • Disciplined and conscientious approach to work.
  • Demonstrated organization skills that translate into planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills focusing on stakeholder engagement and influencing others.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Serve as a steward of digital turnaround tools—including SharePoint, Maximo, and P6—by governing template version control, data standards, reporting structures, and ensuring that all teams follow disciplined digital workflows that uphold data integrity.
  • Experience with CMMS (Maximo) and Primavera (P6) scheduling software is a strong asset.
  • Development and ownership of budgets and cost forecasting (earned value and productivity).
