Lead, Testing & Automation (Non-Union) Mississauga Full time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

What You’ll Do The role is responsible for establishing and scaling a strategic testing framework, overseeing software testing strategies and quality assurance processes for our meter-to-cash and customer experience platform. The role will focus on ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability in our software products through the implementation of testing automation, DevSecOps practices, and continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this role will support establishing all Testing and Automation practices, framework, tools, and methodologies for the Customer Product portfolio and related platforms.

  • Lead and manage the testing and quality assurance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Build team capabilities, establish test competency standards, and champion a culture of quality across the organization.
  • Establish all Testing and Automation practices including necessary framework, tools, and methodologies specific to the Customer Product portfolio including meter-to-cash, customer experience, and other related platforms such as metering, AMI, etc.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies and plans for meter-to-cash and customer experience platform.
  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts, test cycles to ensure thorough coverage and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate testing automation and DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, and Platform Leads to embed testing best practices and ensure design-for-testability.
  • Serve as a thought leader and internal consultant for quality engineering, continuously benchmarking against industry standards and identifying emerging technologies to evolve the testing practice.
  • Monitor and analyze testing results, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analyzes existing business processes, testing methodologies and design; recommends improvements and participates in design of new systems for solution architecture.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for testing and quality assurance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality and reliability of our software products.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on testing progress, issues, risks, and resolutions.

Who You Are Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in testing and quality assurance, with a focus on meter-to-cash and customer experience platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of testing automation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of utility industry business processes and practices
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing and QA, with at least 2 years’ experience in a lead role with cross functional influence and team leadership.
  • Strong expertise in utilities Meter-to-Cash processes, including metering, billing, payments, and collections.
  • Experience with Customer Experience platforms, such as CRM, CC&B, CX portals.
  • Certification in testing and quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) an asset.
  • Hands on experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for testing and quality assurance.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Proficiency in automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, UFT, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, X-Ray, or TestRail).
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI) and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and RPA tools (e.g. UiPath).
  • Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business context, test scripts, and automation.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions to complex technical, business issues
  • Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an organized and concise way
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
