week)
Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for
all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $23.25.
This position is entitled to a $1 shift premium per hour.
This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP
amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Are you passionate about logistics? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic
individual for our packaging function. As a Packer, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct standard packaging crates designed to package S&C products for external delivery by using power saws, drills, nail guns, and other hand tools.
- Review crate drawings and measure pieces to ensure accuracy in crate construction.
- Use tuggers and overhead cranes to transport completed products to the crating area for packaging, placing the product on skids or crate bases.
- Ensures the correct products and parts are packaged within the packing crate according to instructions from more senior members of the team, which may include sub-packages of smaller parts.
- Confirm that finished products and associated components have all passed final inspections prior to packaging.
- Use internal software applications and whiteboards to identify packing requests and shipments, respond to requests in a timely manner, and correctly document completed jobs.
- Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
What you’ll Need To Succeed
- 0-1 year of demonstrated experience in carpentry, woodworking, or related experience that requires the use of power tools.
- Basic carpentry skills with a general understanding of how to construct simple wooden supports, such as pallets and crates.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities and specifications consistently.
- Ability to work independently and meet the requirements of assigned handling requests.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
- Basic math skills with the ability to calculate quantities and weights.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
- Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as scales and tape measures.
- Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
Physical demands
- Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
- Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
- Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
- Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
- Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
- Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
