Scope
The Financial Reporting Clerk performs varied and complex clerical and technical administrative work within the Finance department. In conjunction with other City departments, the position requires independent management of deadlines and deliverables. The work requires considerable knowledge of document editing and publishing, utilizing several software applications. This position works under limited supervision and exercises independent judgment and initiative.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will: Work closely with the Financial Reporting manager on the compilation and preparation of the five-year annual financial plan, annual financial report, and other related internal and external documents. Take initiative in corresponding with various City departments and external stakeholders to obtain required information to produce reports. Receive, interpret, and verify financial reporting information and documents for completeness, correctness, and conformity with applicable bylaws, policies, practices, and procedures. Manage and support user requests related to the Financial Management System (“FMS”). Perform clerical tasks and other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Applicants under consideration will have: Completed Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of three (3) accounting or business-related courses from a post-secondary institution. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant clerical or accounting related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience working with reporting and/or publishing software. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Key Characteristics: Self motivated and proactive. Strong proficiency with learning and using software applications. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to stay organized under an environment driven by critical deadlines.
