Description Mobile Preventative Maintenance Yard Mechanic The Mobile Preventative Maintenance Yard Mechanic is responsible for servicing/repairing buses at various SOUTHLAND yards in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
Hours of Work: The shift for this position is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, worked as a 12-hour shift from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Duties
- Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
- Travel between multiple yards to perform preventative maintenance scheduling
- Diagnose equipment problems
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Journeyperson Ticket (either Heavy Duty or Automotive); 4th-year apprentices will also be considered
- Own hand tools
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- 2 – 5 years related experience
- Valid driver’s license (class 2 or 3 considered an asset)
- CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License is considered an asset
- Exposure to working on diesel engines
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)
- Computer proficiency
Remuneration
- Journeyperson Rate - $42.50 per hour
- Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)
- Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation)
- Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months)
- Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in the last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
