About the role
Contributing in this role means :
- Operate welding machines (semi-automatic, FCAW, CO2) to perform fillet or groove welds;
- Read and interpret welding blueprints or instructions;
- Follow quality procedures, work instructions, or the company’s manufacturing standards;
- Perform torch cutting;
- Set up and adjust machines, gauges, etc., for amperage, voltage, pressure, feed rate, and the speed of rollers, rotators, or positioners;
- Meet the requirements for non-destructive testing or equivalent inspections;
- Pay close visual attention, note and report material, tool, or equipment defects to the supervisor, and protect them from damage;
- Gouge and clean metal parts;
- Operate an overhead crane;
- Apply the best welding techniques to ensure optimal productivity and minimal distortion of parts, while maintaining weld quality and deposition rate;
- Perform any other related duties.
What we are looking for
- Possess a vocational diploma in welding (D.E.P.) or an equivalent ASP certification;
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience required in the fabrication of welded steel structures (an asset);
- Hold FCAW / SMAW / GMAW / SAW competency cards and certification from the Canadian Welding Bureau (an asset);
- Experience operating overhead cranes, as well as in lifting, rigging, and loading operations (an asset);
- Proficient in reading blueprints and welding symbols;
- Experience with welding machines, grinders, torches, and arc gouging tools;
- Knowledge of rigging operations and loading methods;
- Manual dexterity, autonomy, and strong teamwork skills;
- Spoken and written proficiency in French and English (an asset).
