About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of the Sterile Processing Department, the Utility Worker supports the efficient operation of the department. Duties include pick-ups of soiled items from patient care areas, deliveries of clean items to patient care areas, unloading washers, drying patient care items and distributing decontaminated OR instrumentation within the department, documentation of work, and interacting with patient care areas.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Grade XII with excellent reading and writing skills Effective communication skills Ability to work independently Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding atmosphere Recent experience handling blood and body fluids and knowledge of routine practices Previous experience and theoretical knowledge of proper method of working in an area of decontamination and sterilization of patient care items WHIMS Certification Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Successful candidate required to take and successfully pass a functional assessment to determine the physical capabilities to do the job. Physical Demands: Repetitive bending, repetitive lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 30 pounds, repetitive pushing and pulling carts. Constant standing and walking. Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids and extreme heat and humidity.

Hours

Permanent Full-time; 75 Hours Bi-weekly Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, weekend and holidays Travel to various sites may be required A skill test will be included as part of the selection process

Compensation And Benefits

$21.68 - $23.36 Hourly
