About the role
As a Financial Analyst you will support FreshBooks’ budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis processes. You will prepare and update financial models, track KPIs, and deliver insights that help guide decision-making. You will also contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting, variance analysis, and the development of tools and templates that improve FP&A efficiency and accuracy.
You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate with Finance colleagues and cross-functional teams. Your work will ensure senior leadership receives timely and accurate financial information.
NOTE: This role is hybrid , meaning that the team comes together in our downtown toronto office once a month.
What You'll Do
- Support the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Update and maintain financial models to reflect business performance and assumptions
- Track and analyze KPIs, identifying trends and potential issues
- Perform variance analysis and provide initial commentary for review
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior management
- Gather and consolidate financial and operational data from multiple sources
- Assist with building tools, reports, and templates to improve FP&A processes
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 2+ years of financial analysis experience, ideally in consulting, SaaS, or technology industries
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify insights
- Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with financial systems (e.g., Access, SQL, NetSuite, Looker)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and a proactive approach to assigned tasks
- Ability to make decisions independently and with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
You'll Stand Out If You Have
- Previous experience with financial analysis at an investment bank, private equity fund, or at a private equity owned company
- Progress toward a CFA or CPA designation or recently obtained one
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
