About the role
The Ottawa Senators are continuing to transform the business and target new opportunities to grow revenue and fan engagement. To accelerate this vision, we are seeking a dynamic, strategic and analytical professional who combines strong financial acumen with a passion for sports and innovation.
In this newly created role, you will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and partner with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to evaluate new business opportunities, and deliver actionable insights that drive organizational growth and new opportunities across the business. You will conduct primary research, both internally and externally, and develop business cases and strategic plans.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding financial modelling skills, exhibit a high degree of professionalism, and possess a passion for hockey and the sports industry.
Responsibilities

Prepare financial modelling and business cases for new opportunities as they are identified by the ELT.

Work with the CFO to develop strategic plans for new initiatives and ultimately work on the broader corporate strategy.

Support the financial analysis for the Lebreton Flats initiative by working with internal and external stakeholders on a consolidated analytical plan.

Serve as a trusted advisor across the organization as an internal strategic and financial consultant.

Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, compelling presentations for senior management and ownership groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or related field.
- Must have advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; experience in building Excel Macros (VBA)
- Critical thinking; can quickly understand the key components of a complex business issue and focus analytical time on the highest value drivers.
- Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment where priorities can change; able to adapt to new challenges.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret large amounts of financial and non-financial data and summarize it to present meaningful information to various levels of management.
- Keen to adapt to a dynamic business environment, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- 3+ years experience in financial and strategic analysis, either in a full-time role or through internships.
