THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Team Lead, Field & Water Engineering, the Field Production Engineer provides hands-on engineering support across gas production operations, from well-sites through to gas plants. The successful candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, a safety-first mindset, and a high level of attention to detail.

This exciting opportunity is based at a camp approximately 1.5 hours north of Fort St. John, BC. You'll enjoy a stable schedule with a standardized 14-day on, 14-day off rotation. This is a safety sensitive position, and therefore you are required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Confirms root cause of operational issues, and defines solutions through Management of Change (MOC) activities
  • Support new well startup operations, including assessment of flow rates, sand production and system velocities
  • Provides field-based engineering support for well optimization plunger lift – managing new installations, on-going monitoring, and training/guidance for Operations staff
  • Support Field Operations, Calgary-based Remote Operations Center (ROC) Asset Management and Production Engineers on opportunity scoping, troubleshooting issues, equipment monitoring, etc.
  • Role supports all surface equipment, including well sites, pipelines, compressor stations and gas plants
  • Collaborate with field operations and maintenance teams, ensuring shared success on mitigating health safety and environmental risks, maximizing production rates, equipment reliability as well as minimizing operating costs

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Engineering degree, within the Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical disciplines
  • Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • 3-5 years of experience within the oil and gas industry with exposure to natural gas operations, gas facilities design experience, and/or well optimization and troubleshooting experience
  • Engineering fundamentals knowledge – fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and basic understanding of electrical and controls
  • Knowledge of materials science, BCER (or AER) regulations, machine design, piping design, and operational experience would all be assets
  • Previous involvement in small projects with ability to redline P&IDs, generate ISOs, line lists, and complete risk assessments/PHAs, design/constructability reviews, and interface with construction and commissioning personnel
  • Experience with technology and software related to data analytics, machine learning and python coding would be a strong asset
