About the role

Purpose

The Director leads financial planning, performance management, and strategic advisory for the GTB business line, ensuring alignment with International Banking objectives. The Director is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the GTB division, including financial planning and analysis, performance management, capital allocation, risk oversight, and strategic decision support.

The Director Partner with senior IB GTB executives and leadership teams, providing critical financial insights, supporting the planning process, and coordinating efforts across multiple geographies. This role will lead financial reporting initiatives, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The incumbent will drive the overall success of the GTB Finance team by executing key goals, plans, and initiatives aligned with the team’s business strategies. All activities will be conducted in strict compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities

Analysis:

  • Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as the primary finance advisor to GTB International Banking leadership, providing insights and recommendations to drive business performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the annual planning, forecasting, and monthly performance review processes for GTB within International Banking.
  • Evaluate financial performance by supporting and monitoring key metrics and performance measurement criteria. This includes delivering detailed analysis for Forecasts, MD&A, Stress Tests, Investor Presentations, Board Slides, Quarterly Reporting, Supplementary Reports, and Senior Management Scorecards.
  • Collaborate with the International Banking Finance and Business teams to assess financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis provide to provide actionable insights to senior management regarding the division’s business performance.
  • Develop and monitor financial models for ad-hoc analyses, consolidating data to review variances, trends, or sensitivity analyses.

Advisory:

  • Advise local Finance teams to ensure methodology and processes align with best practices and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with country specialist teams to ensure analysis and reporting of segment trends and results are consistent.
  • Work closely with the Strategy team to provide necessary financial analysis and data for strategic deliverables.

Control:

  • Liaise with GTB FP&A Director, IB Segment Finance Leads to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial data.
  • Ensure the integrity and reliability of financial results and oversee the timely completion of financial reporting processes.

Other:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related fields
  • MBA or Master’s in finance is an asset
  • CFA, CPA, or other designations are an asset

Work experience:

  • Minimum 8-12 years of work experience
  • Strong understanding of GTB products and International banking landscape
  • Minimum 2 years in senior roles
  • Banking or financial services experience
  • Experience in financial reporting, planning, analysis
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly familiar with accounting practices, taxation, and transfer pricing
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal as well as presentation) skills;
  • Excellent computer skills - Proficient in Excel (advanced modelling, macros, VBA)

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a hybrid office/remote based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Minimal Travel
    required.
