Position Summary North York General (NYG) is embarking on the largest redevelopment and expansion in its history. With a new Long-term Care Development and a New Patient Care Tower – the first healthcare Alliance project in Ontario – and many other strategic redevelopment priorities, NYG is transforming healthcare delivery for our patients, families and community. In this position, you are responsible for working with the Capital Planning and Redevelopment team as a representative of Finance. You will assist in the preparation and management of capital project budgets, cash flows, and analyze project financial and statistical information as required. You will support the issuing of purchase requisitions, payment of invoices and overall management of the project expenditures. You will be required to identify key issues and use expertise and judgment to make recommendations. This role requires excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to support the development of business cases, proposals, briefing notes, and presentations.
On a practical level, you will
- Management of the client’s financial and statistical data to ensure accuracy and quality
- Working with the client on development of their budget and monitoring the client’s financial performance.
- Assists in daily accounting functions, account analysis and reconciliation.
- Prepares complete, accurate and timely internal monthly statements distributed as part of the monthly management report package.
- Prepares complete, accurate and timely monthly internal variance analysis as assigned.
- Assists in the analytical review process completed as part of the annual year-end audit.
- Completes project-specific analysis and prepares for project specific audits as assigned.
- Assists with financial reporting and other ad hoc analyses as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Adminstration or equivalent
- Enrollment in an accounting designation program preferred
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent is an asset
- 5 years of experience in an accounting environment
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to exercise judgement in determining priorities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a team environment
- Advanced skill set in the Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Access
