About the role

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance). Work setting: Group home. Work in employer's/client's home. Various locations. Social service or charity agency. Private residence. Tasks: Administrative and office activities. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Housekeeping activities. Food preparation. Resolve conflict situations. Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Developmental services worker (DSW) Training. Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Student status: Full time enrollment. Part time enrollment. Target audience: Persons with an intellectual disability. Persons with mental health disabilities. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Child Abuse Registry check. Driver's validity licence check. Adult Abuse Registry check. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Client focus. Excellent written communication.
