THE OPPORTUNITY:

Frost Group is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its finance team. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant is responsible for executing day-to-day accounting activities and supporting accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting.

The Senior Accountant works closely with the CFO and internal teams to ensure financial information is complete, well supported, and ready for use across the business. The role is well suited to an accounting professional who values precision, accountability, and strong fundamentals and is comfortable working in a hands-on role within an operational environment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with established processes and reporting timelines.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and review day-to-day accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support cash flow tracking and forecasting activities alongside the CFO.

Controls and Compliance

  • Apply established internal control procedures and support their consistent use across the finance function.
  • Assist with compliance requirements related to government reporting, lenders, and banking partners.
  • Support fraud awareness and mitigation efforts through careful review and adherence to controls.

Reporting and Operational Support

  • Support accounts receivable processes and customer invoicing activities.
  • Maintain accurate job cost reporting and ensure financial information is complete and well supported.
  • Prepare external reporting as required, including reporting to First Nations partners, bonding providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support tax filings and year-end processes in coordination with the CFO and external advisors.

Systems and Collaboration

  • Use Sage 300 and related financial systems to support accurate and timely reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy by following established workflows and resolving discrepancies as they arise.
  • Work closely with project and operations teams to ensure financial information is captured accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with hands-on responsibility for month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience in project-based or operational environments, including construction, forestry, or resource-related industries, is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage recurring accounting processes independently, with consistency and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Sage 300 or comparable accounting systems in a practical, reporting-focused environment.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work productively with finance leadership and operational teams.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000, based on skill set and experience.
  • 3-week vacation allowance.
  • Extended benefits package upon completion of probationary period.
