Position
Specialist, Jumbo Operator, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Manager, Underground Mining, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Operate underground mining equipment safely and efficiently, including bolting jumbos, Maclean bolters, ANFO loaders, scooptrams (6yd, 8yd, 10yd), haul trucks (30t, Slt), underground light vehicles, and scissor lifts, following site standard operating procedures.
- Complete thorough pre/post-operational inspections of equipment, reporting deficiencies or damage to the Shift Supervisor.
- Perform and train coworkers in post-blast inspections, mucking out development rounds, ore and waste haulage, and recognizing and addressing poor ground conditions.
- Read and follow engineering-issued driving layouts, ensuring proper face preparation and adherence to mining protocols.
- Install mine services, scale,slashes,benches, bolt, and screen development areas using the Bolting Jumbo, and maintain safe ground conditions.
- Drill development rounds, load explosives, and conduct blasting operations safely and efficiently.
- Coach and mentor other employees.
- Report shift details to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner and maintain a high level of housekeeping in the underground mine.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Seven (7) years of development mining experience with a demonstrated high level of proficiency in relevant tasks.
- Experience with Sandvik equipment is highly desirable.
- Valid First Aid certificate and blasting ticket in a Canadian jurisdiction.
- Well-developed leadership skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $186,719.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $67.75 and overtime rate of $101.63) in a work year.
B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.
