Job Description The Opportunity: Our Power subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. Over the decades, we have developed a comprehensive range of services, including technical study preparation in niche areas, project management, detailed design, and site services. To meet our growth challenges, WSP’s Canadian team is currently seeking an Intermediate Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our Power Delivery team, located in any of our Ontario or Quebec offices. WSP is a leader in the delivery of clean energy and Power sector solutions to meet the increasing demand for safe, secure, and sustainable energy for Canadians which requires a substantial expansion of the electricity transmission network. In this role, you will help bring WSP’s vast expertise, experience, and innovation to support our clients, utilities, and communities in the transformation to a new energy future.

- Lead or support initial project execution and layout for efficient planning
- Perform engineering and design for transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV
- Prepare and review design deliverables, such as plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specifications
- Oversee a team of engineers, drafters, and designers on small to medium projects
- Maintain project schedule and budget
- Conduct project meetings and communicate deliverables
- Coordinate with clients and support project meetings
- Ensure workflow and communication across multidisciplinary teams
- Facilitate QA/QC procedures and reviews
- Participate in industry conferences for professional development
- Develop expertise in Transmission Line design and related software/tools
- Prepare project status reports and updates
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Support resource planning for current and future projects
- Participate in new hire screening and review processes
- Contribute to business improvement and planning initiatives
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
- At least three (3) years experience in transmission design – design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid package
- P.Eng licensed or near completion
- Hands-on work experience using PLS-CADD, POLE, TOWER and FAD Tools software packages
- Electric utility industry experience
- Design experience up to 230kV
- Distribution design experience
- Transmission line routing
- Transmission structure foundation design
- Transmission structure load and design
- Cost estimating and scheduling
