Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Maria Montessori Academy – Victoria, BC
Maria Montessori Academy is an independent Montessori school offering programs from preschool through Grade 12. Located in the Gordon Head area of Victoria, we are proud to serve a vibrant community of almost 300 learners and a dedicated team of educators.
We are currently seeking an Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our preschool team for the upcoming school year. The successful candidate will work as the third member of a collaborative team supporting a class of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old students. This is a full-time, one-year position for the 2026–2027 school year , with the potential to extend beyond the initial contract.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside two educators to support the overall development of the preschool and kindergarten class
- Provide additional support to children with learning differences
- Help guide the classroom environment in alignment with Montessori principles
- Collaborate closely with the teaching team to meet the individual and collective needs of students
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- ECE Assistant Certificate (ECE-A)
- First Aid & CPR-C certification or willingness to obtain
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an educational or early childhood setting
- Experience working with preschool-aged children
- Montessori experience is considered an asset, but not required
Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of inclusive education practices and early childhood development
- Familiarity with current educational trends and the preschool/kindergarten developmental stage
- Flexible, team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
- Passion for working with young children and supporting diverse learners
- Ability to use positive behavioural support strategies
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to ongoing professional growth
Position Details:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Contract runs from September 1 to June 30
- Start date: September 1, 2026
Bonus Availability:
- Preference will be given to candidates who are also available to support our After School Program , running Monday to Friday from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
