We’re looking for an Operations Manager to lead operations for our apparel distribution centre. This role is hands-on, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows in receiving, picking, packing, and shipping. The Operations Manager drives performance through direct oversight of warehouse teams, maintaining high standards for safety, accuracy, and productivity.

Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30p.m. (M – F)

Afternoon Shift : 3:45p.m. – 12:15a.m. (M – F)

Night Shift: 11:00p.m. – 7:30a.m. (S – Th)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations for the apparel business (Cleo, Northern Reflections, Ricki’s), while achieving effective and efficient service with a focus on quality, productivity, service, safety and loss prevention.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise warehouse associates across designated departments (receiving, order fulfillment, shipping).
  • Execute daily operational plans to ensure merchandise is processed and shipped on time, meeting service level expectations.
  • Monitor team performance and productivity, providing direction and support on the warehouse floor.
  • Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and labour planning to align with business volumes and seasonal peaks.
  • Partner with Distribution Centre leadership to resolve operational challenges and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of KPIs (accuracy, productivity, order turnaround time, etc.) and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as a key liaison with other functions (Planning, Merchandising, Transportation) to support product flow and problem resolution.
  • Promote a positive and safe work environment, leading by example and reinforcing company values.
  • Coordinate inventory location moves within the warehouse;
  • Review order accuracy, productivity levels, and general maintenance of the warehouse;
  • Oversight of all warehouse operations, including safety, quality, continuous improvement, and inventory control, as well as confirming loads and arranging pick-up and delivery appointments;
  • Drive operational excellence in receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping across multiple brands.
  • Ensure team members are working efficiently, in a timely manner, and following processes and procedures put in place by the company;
  • Support all company sponsored programs and initiatives. Provide positive leadership and seek out opportunities to maintain and enhance morale.
  • Supervise, direct, train and develop team members, including providing frequent and constructive feedback.
  • Communicate departmental standards, expectations, goals, changes and policies to all team members.
  • Maintain and enhance overall Employee relations and job satisfaction through effective communication, fair and consistent treatment, respect for the individual, and establishment of clear expectations and accountability.
  • Ensure team member safety through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability and by promptly addressing potential hazards.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards and with the OHSA to ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization. Monitor DC safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in a Distribution Centre or Warehouse
  • Solid communication skills, interpersonal skills, math and problem solving skills and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), best practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Strong leadership skills
  • People Management – ability to assess skills and manage the work and productivity of others while coaching and developing talent
  • Business Communication skills – ability to write, speak and present clearly across a variety of communication settings and adjusts communication style to the audience
  • Conflict management skills – ability to view conflict as an opportunity to find common ground and gain cooperation from all parties.
  • Problem solving skills – reacts quickly and appropriately to problems in the DC; follows up in a timely manner to issues not immediately resolvable; ties up all loose ends.
  • Ability to motivate self and others to accomplish important objectives despite a complex environment and multiple demands; creates a sense of urgency and delegates appropriately.
  • Must have high initiative, integrity and dependability and demonstrate responsible, ethical and honest behavior in all tasks and responsibilities
