Job Profile

The City of Cambridge is looking for qualified Cashiers to join our team for Summer 2026.

What you will be doing

  • Uses a Point-of-Sale software to receive cash or passes for admission and process registrations via our registration system.
  • Balances and accounts for all monies at the opening and end of each shift. and
  • Acts as a City of Cambridge "Ambassador" to ensure patron satisfaction on the telephone and in-person and as a facility receptionist.
  • Enforces the City of Cambridge Swim Admission process to meet public health regulations
  • Practices appropriate public relations while enforcing facility rules including preventing unauthorized access to change rooms by anyone other than program participants and ensure safety supervision basics of the foyer.
  • Administers first aid when necessary, including completing proper documentation.
  • Performs light cleaning duties such as deck sloshing, scum line, end of shift mopping, etc.
  • Ensures accurate, timely and complete submission of all forms and records including but not limited to personal training records, refund requests, program attendance sheets.
  • Participates in training/in-service as required, occasionally outside of regular working hours.

Experience and Knowledge

One (1) year of cash handling experience.

Please note: Applicants must be 15 years of age or older.

We are looking for these certificates

Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED

Bronze Cross certification or higher

We will ask you for these items if you are hired

Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.

Current and valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.

Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour

Rate of pay

The hourly rate for this position is $17.60.

Hours of work

  • Aquatic positions are available from mid-June to September 7, 2026.
  • Location George Hancock or Ed Newland. Location subject to change based on staffing needs.
  • Up to 40 hours/week. Hours will include evenings, weekdays or weekends and are dependent on the number of participants taking part in our programs; as such, there are no minimum hours associated with this position.
  • The hiring criteria for summer session employment does not allow for vacation time. It is understood that you will be available for work during the entire summer program period.
