We are looking for a highly motivated co-op student to join our Capital Markets Finance Transformation Office team in Toronto – part of a world-class, winning culture that prioritizes people development and focuses on long-term growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of digital transformation initiatives that support OMERS Capital Markets, Total Portfolio Management, and Corporate Finance functions. Your role will involve understanding stakeholder needs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and contributing to projects that drive significant organizational change. Job responsibilities:
Supporting the Transformation Office within Capital Markets Finance, the student will:
Collaborate with stakeholders, including internal teams and external vendors, to gather, analyze, and document business requirements in alignment with transformation objectives.
Participate in workshops and meetings with vendors and Business SMEs to capture user stories and requirements and communicate progress effectively.
Analyze existing processes, technology, and data flows to identify opportunities for improvements.
Support the translation of business requirements into functional specifications, ensuring alignment with system integration goals.
Contribute to the redesign of business processes to align with new system capabilities and best practices.
Assist in testing new systems and processes, ensuring business requirements are met, and participate in defect management.
Provide support and guidance to teams for smooth adoption of new systems and processes.
Identify potential risks and issues related to technology, processes, and organizational changes, and propose solutions.
You should apply if:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree specializing in Accounting/Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Analytics
Strong interest in pursuing a career in Capital Markets or FinTech
An understanding of investment products including bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Curiosity and eagerness to learn about business analysis strategies and tools
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint, and a willingness to learn more advanced tools
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of engaging colleagues at various levels
Self-starter with a proactive approach and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
Openness to change and a continuous improvement mindset
Experience with data engineering tools (e.g., SQL, PowerBI) is an asset
