Job Summary:

We are looking for a strategically minded, highly motivated Inventory Control Analyst who will be able to provide reliable and timely information and analysis to business leaders to guide them in the decision-making process. This position focuses on financial accounting, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) within the retail industry.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally with the Accounting, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Asset Protection teams to analyze and interpret inventory results and drive profitability;
  • Prepare and record month-end close journal entries related to cost of sales;
  • Ensure accurate costing related to inventory valuation, including accounting for freight, duties, and other landed costs;
  • Prepare and distribute monthly cost and inventory reports, including margin analysis and COGS;
  • Investigate and explain variances between standard, actual, and forecasted costs;
  • Continuously monitor results, provide insights into variances, and challenge business partners;
  • Participate in process improvement to increase quality and reliability and reduce report preparation time;
  • Prepare and present insights based on analysis, key metrics trends, and quantified risks and opportunities;
  • Develop a deep understanding of major performance drivers and KPIs to support the business with regular reporting;
  • Complete other ad hoc duties and analyses as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance, with a relevant professional designation (CPA, CFA) being a plus;
  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and financial acumen;
  • Ability to think strategically and strong skills to drive business initiatives end-to-end and deliver insights;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, evolving environment;
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting the company’s policies and objectives;
  • Expert-level proficiency in MS Excel is mandatory for data modelling and analysis.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communication with suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, both within and outside of Quebec.
