About the role

Children’s Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position:

One Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist

Union Position – 35 hours per week

Hourly: $40.34 - $49.09

Responsibilities:

The Speech-Language Pathologist plans, directs or conducts intervention programs to develop the full communicative potential of the child. The Speech-Language Pathologist is required to work with diverse populations and work towards the inclusion of minority groups within the service provided. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides a wide range of speech and language interventions for pre-school children and their families. These services include prevention, early identification, assessment, direct therapy (individual and group), consultation to teachers, child care providers and other community caregivers, parent training and education, referral to other professionals, prevention programs and community education.

Qualifications:

The position of Speech and Language Pathologist requires:

  • A Master's Degree in Communication Disorders from a recognized and accredited university.

  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists (CASLPO)

  • Knowledge of children’s mental health, family systems and developmental issues.

  • An ability to work collaboratively with other professionals within and outside of the Centre.

  • A valid Ontario Driver's License.

  • District travel will be a requirement.
