About the role
Who We Are
ZOLEO is building the next generation of connected communication devices — integrating hardware, firmware, mobile applications, and cloud services into one seamless global experience.
We design technology that keeps people connected when it matters most, combining satellite and cellular networks into a reliable, global messaging ecosystem. Our products are trusted by adventurers, remote workers, and emergency responders around the world. We’re driven by the challenge of bridging the gap between devices, apps, and cloud services to create a truly unified user experience — one that works anywhere.
Why This Role Matters
As the E2E Integration Lead, you will drive the technical integration of ZOLEO devices across all layers of the product ecosystem. This role spans firmware, systems, and software, ensuring that every feature performs seamlessly — from device through the mobile app to the back-end platform.
It’s a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of hardware and software — translating complex technical challenges into cohesive, tested, and high-performing solutions. Reporting to the Director of Hardware, this position works closely across firmware, mobile, and cloud engineering, as well as with design partners and product leadership, to deliver dependable, scalable experiences for users worldwide.
What’s In It For You
- End-to-End Impact. You’ll lead system integration for a global product that connects people in some of the most remote places on Earth. Your work ensures ZOLEO devices perform flawlessly across hardware, firmware, mobile apps, and cloud services — a tangible, high-stakes impact on customer safety and experience.
- Technical Ownership and Breadth. From lab setups and automation frameworks to validation and release readiness, you will gain full technical visibility across the entire product stack — using that perspective to shape the processes, tools, and metrics that raise the standard for integration across the organization.
- A Cross-Domain Challenge. Few roles connect as many moving parts. You’ll work across hardware, software, and systems layers to ensure everything functions as one — understanding how each part influences the next and leading the effort to make them operate in harmony.
- A Culture That Values Craft and Collaboration. Curiosity, rigor, and collaboration drive everything we do. It’s an environment that rewards clarity, ownership, and the pursuit of better solutions — where your work makes a difference for people everywhere.
What You’ll Do
- Lead System Integration Across Domains. Drive the end-to-end integration of ZOLEO devices across firmware, mobile applications, and back-end systems. Collaborate with design service and software partners to validate firmware drops, manage regressions, and coordinate across engineering disciplines to deliver dependable performance.
- Own Verification and Validation. Define and execute comprehensive test plans that reflect real-world use. Leverage automation frameworks, scripting, and validation coverage to ensure every release meets the highest standards of stability and readiness before it reaches customers.
- Build Tools and Automation. Maintain lab environments, integration tools, and continuous validation systems that support daily development. Develop utilities for device control, log capture, and data correlation between the app and back-end, enhancing how integration quality is measured and improved.
- Champion Continuous Improvement. Streamline workflows, boost release confidence, and implement smarter automation to remove friction. Lead with curiosity and precision to elevate technical standards and deliver products that perform reliably, everywhere.
What you Bring
- Embedded Systems Expertise**.** 8+ years of experience in embedded systems integration, validation, or firmware bring-up, with a proven record of leading technical integration for connected products such as IoT devices, communications systems, or consumer electronics. A deep understanding of how firmware, mobile apps, and cloud services interoperate at scale is essential.
- Technical Excellence. You have a track record of designing and operating robust test environments that enable continuous integration and validation across device, firmware, app, and backend systems. You understand firmware development workflows at a deep level and know how to apply best practices to ensure high-quality hardware releases. Your technical rigor sets the standard for how ZOLEO products are verified and validated before they reach customers.
- Leadership Through Clarity. Known for clear, structured communication and the ability to translate complex technical details into actionable direction. Lead by example, coordinating internal collaborators and external partners with precision and empathy.
- Experience That Elevates Your Impact. Experience with BLE, cellular, or satellite communication protocols is a plus and will deepen your understanding of ZOLEO’s technology stack. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, cloud message routing, mobile app test frameworks, or CI/CD systems is equally valuable, along with exposure to design-service models or telemetry and system-level monitoring pipelines — all of which can further expand your impact across the product lifecycle.
