JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL INFORMATION Job Title Accounts Payable Clerk Department Accounting Billing Classification AC1 WCBC compensation reference AC1 Reports to Accounting Manager Direct Reports None Overtime status Overtime Not Eligible Ve Document History rsion 2 (April 2026) PRIMARY FUNCTION The Accounts Payable Clerk will provide support to the accounting team by performing a variety of basic accounting and administrative functions according to standard policies and procedures. The position is responsible for receiving, processing, and verifying invoices related to accounts payables. Accounting activities also include data entry, processing of expenses, or assisting with other clerical duties.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Answers, directs, and responds to incoming calls relating to Triton’s vendors
- Processes entries and payments for invoices due from Triton to suppliers or subcontractors; includes new AP credit account requests
- Effectively communicates with Project Managers, Operation Managers, and Project Coordinators to obtain invoice and employee expense approvals
- Liaises with administrative staff in other office locations to ensure all expenses are captured so that they may be properly invoiced in a timely manner, critical to timely client invoicing
- Sets up new vendors, General ledger accounts, and activities in accounting software
- Recommends and implements agreed process improvements to the Accounts Payable function
- Ensures all expenses are filed, stored, and archived according to the corporate records management system OTHER ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:
- Performs additional assignments, as directed.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: Education and Experience
- Grade 12 graduate with minimum of one year of post-secondary education, preferably in a business or accounting program
- 2+ years’ experience in a general accounting and/or Accounts Payable capacity
- Strong understanding of budget and revenue tracking
- Proficient with computers, with a good knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Must be detail-oriented, with a high degree of accuracy when working with data General
- Ability to work independently, managing time and workload efficiently to ensure projects or tasks are completed on time; well organized
- Builds effective interpersonal relationships and has an ability to work well with others on the team creating a positive and productive work environment
- Respects the confidential nature of the position
- A quick learner, easily adapting to new software applications, systems, and business processes
- Strong desire to work in a team setting
- Strong problem solver able to address challenges with effective solutions that improve efficiency of the Accounting department
