About the role
We are looking for a Mechanical Designer / BIM Specialist to join our team in our Vancouver office. In this role, you will be working in a collaborative team on mechanical design projects with a focus on BIM management and support. You will be responsible for setting up and managing BIM models, as well as providing modelling support and performing clash detection.
You should be experienced with BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud and its applications, as well as address training needs for the team and recommend improvements for Office BIM Standards. Creative thinking and a proactive attitude, along with strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver designs that meet the needs of the project deliverables in both quality and timeliness as defined by the team leaders.
- Increase technical core competency score each year.
- Comply with AME QA/QC standards and processes to ensure quality goals are maintained.
- Monitor model set-up and workflow to follow AME Standards.
- Identify learning opportunities for project team members, provide mentorship and/or coordinate additional training.
- Create project specific families where team members are unable and monitor creation of families by team to ensure they follow standards.
- Answer support questions from team members and resolve complex problems.
- Manage and maintain the BIM models for projects from inception to completion using BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Setup and coordinate the initial models with various disciplines.
- Review and audit BIM models and drawings for quality and consistency.
- Perform clash detection and resolve issues with project teams using BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Provide technical support to project teams for BIM software and other related tools.
- Create and implement BIM standards and procedures using BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Assist in the development and delivery of BIM training to staff.
- Perform modelling support on an as-needed basis.
- Mechanical design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building control systems.
- System design calculations and equipment selections.
- Preparation of contract drawings and documentation.
- Project coordination with team designers and external design professionals

Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in BIM-related roles.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks).
- Experience in training or mentoring others in a professional setting.
- EIT designation would be an asset.
- Minimum 1-2 years (including co-op terms) of technical mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) experience.
