About the role
AVERTEX Utility Solutions Inc. is seeking an Estimator to join our team based out of our Orangeville office. This role supports our pre-construction team by preparing accurate and competitive bids for underground utility and civil construction projects.
The Estimator plays an important role in helping AVERTEX secure new work and deliver successful projects. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with construction drawings, specifications, and tight tender deadlines.

What we offer
- $27 – $35 per hour depending on experience
- 45–48 hours per week

What you will do
- Develop estimate and proposal packages from start to finish
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to determine project scope
- Perform quantity take-offs to determine labor, equipment, and material requirements
- Prepare and issue requests for quotation to suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing for accuracy and completeness
- Identify and clarify tender requirements including contractual and operational details
- Submit RFIs and RFQs as part of the bid process when clarification is required
- Compile all project costs including labor, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontractors
- Assist in preparing preliminary schedules where required for bid submissions
- Prepare proposal letters, bid forms, and tender breakdowns
- Draft bid clarifications, exclusions, and terms and conditions as required
- Maintain and update contractor pre-qualification programs and bid lists

Requirements

Construction background in civil construction, utilities, excavating, or related industry

Experience preparing construction estimates or assisting with bid preparation

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tenders simultaneously

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Valid driver’s license
-
Civil Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or C.Tech designation is considered an asset
