We are currently seeking an Assistant Site Safety Coordinator to assist in safety program implementation across construction sites by assisting with inspections, documentation, incident reporting, and safety meetings. Works with Site Safety Coordinators and site teams to promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Site Safety Coordinator(s) in the creation, development, implementation, and maintenance of company safety policies, including Safe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures, Daily Attendance Records, Progress Photos, and the Site Emergency Response Plan
- Assist in monitoring the safety performance of all on-site workers to ensure compliance with safe work practices and procedures
- Provide guidance on PPE requirements and help monitor the proper use of equipment, including heavy machinery, while assisting in educating employees on safe operation practices
- Assist with site orientations and toolbox meetings for all site staff and contractors
- Complete daily attendance records and safety supply requisitions as required
- Assist with reporting, filing, and investigation of near misses, injuries, and theft occurrences, including supporting corrective actions
- Conduct daily site inspections and communicate all documentation to the Site Safety Representative and Head Office
- Provide safety reports and information to the Site Superintendent and/or assigned Head Office staff, identifying causes and recommending improvements to safety standards
- Support WHMIS and SDS compliance by providing internal training and ensuring all products and materials are properly tracked and documented
- Maintain records for safety equipment inventory and equipment inspection schedules on site
- Provide coverage across multiple sites (4+), including vacation coverage for Site Safety Coordinators and overlap support during new site start-ups
- Support Site Safety Coordinators by providing site coverage to allow them to conduct additional in-house training
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years of combined construction experience and/or construction safety training
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment
- Knowledge of multi-family construction is an asset but not required
- Ability to take direction and follow safe work procedures
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
