Clinical Nursing Instructor Pool (RN, Part-Time)
Faculty/Instructor Profile
The School of Health & Wellness is inviting applications for Clinical Nursing Instructors (Registered Nurses) to teach in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program!
We are collecting applications for the Winter semester (January – April 2026), and for future openings in the following sites: Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Wetaskiwin, Stettler, Olds, Sundre, Ponoka, and more. Clinical instructors are normally assigned to clinicals with the following shifts, which may rotate between days/evenings:
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- Mondays and Tuesdays
- Thursdays and Fridays

Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

Teaching and supervising a group of students in clinical settings off campus
-
Applying current clinical knowledge and nursing skills to support students
-
Identifying areas where students need extra practice or improvement
-
Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment
-
Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work in clinicals
-
Travel to urban and rural sites for clinical instruction
-
Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.

Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
-
Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
-
Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider or Recertification Certificate, or willingness to obtain upon hire
-
Current Immunizations as per RDP requirements
-
Respiratory Fit Testing
-
Valid Driver’s License
-
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Polytechnic’s Criminal Record Check policy
Preferred Qualifications

Recent preceptor, clinical/practical experience, maternity, mental health, acute care, experience

Experience teaching post-secondary students

Compensation is determined by the highest academic credential received and related experience.

The Faculty Association at Red Deer Polytechnic (FARDP) and the related Collective Agreement provides information on compensation for Instructors at Red Deer Polytechnic.
Part-time Instructors:
- Receive an additional 14% of their gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
- Part-time instructors are not eligible for comprehensive health and dental benefits packages.
- Eligible for individual professional development funding, additional free professional development opportunities offered through the institution.
Eligibility to access the above mentioned benefits is dependent upon the FARDP Collective Agreement and related RDP policies.
