About the role
We are hiring a pragmatic, client facing Director Consulting Expert (DCE) focused on network facing OSS for Tier 1 telecom environments. You will solution and integrate across wireless and/or wireline domains.
Work mix: ~60% Business development solutioning (discovery, architecture, RFx/SOWs, demos/POCs) / ~40% systems integration & delivery oversight (HLD/LLD, integration leadership, quality & margin).
Director Consulting Expert — Network OSS
Location: Toronto/Montreal (onsite; periodic travel is required)
Language/eligibility: English required; French an asset. Eligible to work in Canada.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Technical architecture (~60%)
- Lead discovery and HLD solutioning for OSS domains: assurance, provisioning/fulfilment, inventory/topology, service orchestration, and automation.
- Shape closed loop automation use cases (detect diagnose action), value cases, and executive storylines; prepare estimates/SoWs/BoMs.
- Drive RFx responses, technical sections of proposals, and POCs/lab trials; build clear acceptance criteria and success metrics.
- Produce concise reference architectures and playbooks; enable smooth hand offs to delivery.
- Systems integration & delivery oversight (~40%)
- Guide LLD, integrations, and data pipelines across multi vendor environments (Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Juniper and OSS/BSS platforms); ensure interoperability and performance.
- Implement automation patterns using model driven controllers and APIs (YANG/NETCONF, gNMI, REST, TMF Open APIs); integrate with ITSM for actioning.
- Oversee quality, risk, and technical governance from POC pilot scale.
- Ecosystem & collaboration
- Collaborate with corporate alliances; build practical local motions with OEMs and hyperscalers.
- GCP is preferred for data/AI workloads (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow, Pub/Sub); familiarity with AWS/Azure is an asset.
- Partner with account leads, solution architects, and delivery managers to ensure seamless pursuit to delivery.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 8–12+ years in telecom network OSS architecture/engineering, pre sales, or large scale integration for Tier 1 operators in Canada.
- Depth in one or more areas (you don't need them all):
- Wireless: 5G core integration, RAN assurance/KPIs, policy/charging touchpoints.
- Wireline/Transport: IP/MPLS/SR, optical/packet optical, PON/FTTH, controller based automation.
- OSS: assurance (fault/performance), fulfilment/provisioning, inventory/topology reconciliation, orchestration.
- Standards & protocols: strong grounding in IETF concepts (BGP/MPLS/SRv6, telemetry), YANG/NETCONF, gNMI, SNMP, and integration standards for modern networks; TM Forum/3GPP familiarity is a plus.
- Vendors: practical integration experience with Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Juniper.
- Cloud: hands on with GCP (data & AI services); exposure to AWS/Azure beneficial.
- Education: Bachelor’s in engineering/computer science (or equivalent). Advanced degree/certifications (e.g., GCP PCA/Professional Data Engineer, TM Forum, MEF) are assets.
- Strong communication and a collaborative mindset are valued as much as technical depth.
