Job Summary
Reporting to the Transportation Superintendent, the Heavy Equipment Hauler / End Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Equipment Haul trucks, End Dump, transporting and delivering equipment and or asphalt/ aggregate product to the job site.
Key Responsibilities
Operate multiple tractor/trailer combinations in a safe and efficient with particular attention to Safety. Load/unload any and all types of Road Construction Equipment including Paving equipment, excavator, dozer, packer, extruder etc.. Secure each load properly according to legislation and standards with proper rigging. Complete Log Books, Time Cards, and BOL’s as required. Complete Pre and Post Trip Inspection before and after each shift. Comply with all applicable legislation and bylaws (AB Transportation, Federal, and Municipal). Receive and relay information as required. Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness. Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program. Other related duties as required. Arrive on time and ready for work when schedule.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Certifications
Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract Must have reliable transportation
Work Experience
5 years experience hauling Heavy Equipment. 3 years experience hauling asphalt and aggregate product.
Technical Skills
Experience with up to 10 Axle trailer combination. Experience with Scissor Neck trailer and Live Roll. Winch and recovery experience. Ensure and display a detailed and thorough understanding of the National Safety Code, including but not limited to permitting, Hours of Service, Weights and Dimensions, Trip Inspection and Cargo Securement. Expertise in operation of various pieces of heavy equipment.
Soft Skills
Attention to details. Good Communication. Work with little supervision. Teamwork. Accuracy Ethics and integrity Professionalism Timely
Working Conditions
Overtime as required. Ability to travel. The ability to load in confined areas. Physically demanding. Able to perform at a Heavy Duty level (50lbs maximum). Use of personal protection equipment is required. Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances. Exposure to diesel vehicles. Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements. Must comply with all company policies.
