Your Team:

Join Flair’s Finance team, where regulatory compliance and accurate reporting support effective financial management across the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Tax and Compliance, the Senior Analyst, Tax and Compliance, is responsible for managing the reconciliation, compliance, and reporting of aviation-related taxes and fees across multiple jurisdictions. This role ensures the accurate setup and reporting of taxes while providing technical expertise related to aviation cost structures and regulatory requirements.

The Senior Analyst develops and maintains tax rule applications, monitors rate changes, and ensures the timely remittance of applicable fees and levies. The role also provides internal guidance on tax implications, collaborates closely with Finance and Commercial teams, and liaises with external regulatory bodies to support compliance and alignment. Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of tax regulations, internal controls, and airline financial operations are required.

This role is based on-site at the Edmonton (YEG) or Calgary (YYC) office.

A Day in the Life:

The duties of theSenior Analyst, Tax and Complianceinclude:

  • Reconcile and report all aviation-related taxes and fees in accordance with the remittance schedules of applicable tax and airport authorities.
  • Review and verify all applied tax rates, ensuring accurate and timely updates in internal systems.
  • Monitor changes in applicable tax legislation or regulatory guidelines and ensure updates are implemented to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure data integrity of all passenger and operational statistics and report monthly to each applicable airport or tax authority.
  • Partner with the Commercial and Revenue Accounting teams to ensure all tax rates and rules are accurately reflected in systems and support testing for new destination setups.
  • Work collaboratively with the Revenue Accounting team to resolve discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Validate and maintain tax configuration in financial or reservation systems and coordinate testing when new rates or rules are introduced.
  • Prepare audit-ready documentation and respond to inquiries or requests from tax authorities and auditors, both internal and external.
  • Analyze trends in tax and fee performance and provide actionable insights to support financial planning and compliance strategy.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to the development of automation strategies to improve reporting accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external authorities such as CRA, IRS, and airport agencies.
  • Contribute to the Safety Management System (SMS) through proactive risk identification and participation in relevant assessments or corrective action initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Role:

-Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and/or enrolled in a CPA program required.
  • Enrollment in, or completion of, a CPA designation is strongly preferred. -Experience:
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in tax, finance, or compliance roles, ideally within the airline or travel industry.
  • Direct experience managing and reconciling aviation-specific taxes and fees, including remittances to government and airport authorities.
  • Proven experience working with regulatory bodies such as the CRA, IRS, or equivalent authorities in relation to tax reporting and audits.
  • Experience with accounting and financial systems (e.g., Sage 300) and tax configuration within ERP or reservation systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply tax legislation and regulatory updates to business processes.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with commercial, revenue, and systems teams to implement tax or compliance changes. -Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes, general ledger accounting, and full-cycle tax reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets for reporting and compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, especially when working with regulatory data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset toward improving processes and identifying risks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external regulatory agencies.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Experience interpreting tax rules and applying them across various business systems and jurisdictions -Requirements:
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
