**Estimated Probable Duration:**April 25, 2026 to October 23, 2026
**Union Affiliation:**Non union
**Hours of Work:**70 hours bi-weekly
**Shift Work Required:**No
**Range of Pay:**Group 6 $30.49 to $35.94 (Range in effect April 1, 2026)
The start date will follow the selection process.
**Main Function:**Assist with the supervision of work crews under the Land Reclamation Program.
**Characteristic Duties:**Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Land Reclamation and the day to day direction of the Land Reclamation Foreperson.
- Responsible for ensuring safe operation and maintenance of project vehicles and equipment.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of a crew engaged in tree planting and regular land reclamation activities.
- Ensure daily activities are conducted safely and efficiently with a minimum of inconvenience to the public.
- Ensure proper management of seedling stock (e.g. proper storage, watering and handling to ensure maximum results).
- Offer advice and direction to the crew on most effective method of proceeding with and completing tasks.
- Drive project vehicles to deliver workers, materials and equipment to reclamation sites.
- Operate project equipment (ATV, Argo) to deliver workers, materials and equipment within reclamation sites.
- Develop and maintain a through working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- Additional educational initiatives to update and expand competencies.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of responsible and related experience.
Knowledge Of:
- CGS Land Reclamation process.
Abilities To:
- Demonstrate supervisory skills.
- Proven ability to work in a physically demanding position, outdoors in all weather conditions.
Personal Suitability:
- Mental and physical fitness to perform essential job functions.
Language:
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal skills desirable.
Other Requirements:
- May require the use of a personal or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid Class “G” driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
- Successful completion of Canadian Safety Council ATV Training Course is an asset.
