Position Title: GIS Specialist
Who We Are STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a GIS Specialist to join our team.
What You Will Do
- Independently organize, conceptualize, and conduct advanced spatial analyses.
- Work with the GIS Lead to design and effectively employ 3D geospatial / BIM solutions on regulatory and permitting elements of infrastructure and transportation planning projects.
- Develop vector and raster spatial analysis workflows and models using ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages.
- Develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Operations Dashboards, Story Maps, Field Maps, Survey 123, Experience Builder, etc. within the ArcGIS Enterprise platform.
- Create 2D and 3D maps, databases, and other GIS deliverables for ongoing GIS support functions, sometimes on short notice.
- Occasional travel to sites may be required.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Experience You Will Bring
- Mandatory 5-7 years of experience and knowledge with developing GIS and maintaining 3D GIS data with Esri products.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS tools and methodologies for administration of corporate GIS databases.
- Advanced knowledge of Esri tools including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Working experience of scripting using Java, SQL, and Python.
- Experience with Autodesk software.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and PowerApps.
- Experience with presentation and graphic design tools to produce professional quality mapping output products.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; including experience creating analytical based reports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong organizational and time management skills are important.
- FME will be considered an asset.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough.

To deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension as quickly as possible, construction has been split into two contracts – an advanced tunneling contract that is already underway, and the stations, rail and systems (SRS) contract. The SRS contract is kicking off with a development phase before the construction phase begins, with Scarborough Transit Connect selected as the partner for the development phase.
This consortium is made up of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., and FCC Canada Ltd.
