AltaGas - Board Coordinator
This is a newly created, high-impact role offering exceptional exposure to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and cross-functional teams. As a trusted governance professional, you’ll play a key role in supporting AltaGas’ Board and Corporate Secretary team, ensuring the organization operates within legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks. You Will:
- Coordinate and manage logistics for Board and committee meetings, including scheduling, travel, catering, and secure distribution of materials via Diligent
- Draft and manage minutes, resolutions, action items, and governance records
- Support onboarding and orientation of new directors, including scheduling and materials preparation
- Track director education and serve as liaison between Board members, executives, and internal departments
- Oversee director expenses and contribute to budget planning and cost analysis
- Research and negotiate venues and contracts for Board and shareholder meetings
- Maintain governance documents, committee charters, and policies
- Assist with regulatory filings (SEDI, TSX forms) and coordinate with external legal counsel
- Maintain corporate records and minute books for AltaGas and its subsidiaries
- Draft and file corporate documents (incorporations, amendments, annual returns)
- Respond to internal and external requests for governance-related records
- Provide administrative support to the Corporate Secretary and Board as needed
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in a corporate secretarial, legal, or public company executive environment
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Governance (CORES accreditation is an asset)
- Strong understanding of Canadian corporate governance and regulatory filings
- Experience working with executive leadership and Boards, with a high degree of professionalism and discretion
- Ability to read and interpret legislation and apply governance rules effectively
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Adaptable, flexible, and calm under pressure—able to pivot quickly and manage last-minute changes
- Project management or event planning experience is a strong asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint; experience with Diligent Boards is an asset
- Ability to travel occasionally, including outside of Canada
