About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer in Applied AI reporting to Sr. Director, AI Engineering, you'll play a critical role in building and scaling AI platforms and agent-based solutions that power products and internal tools across Nasdaq's global business.
You'll build AI products and internal tools used across Nasdaq, including Market Platforms, Capital Access Platforms, and Anti-Financial Crime. You'll focus on developing AI agents that improve product development and customer experience, while also working on low-latency model execution frameworks, large-scale data platforms, and advanced monitoring services.

##About the Team
The AI Engineering team builds AI capabilities across Nasdaq's products and internal platforms. We develop and deploy AI-powered solutions—including LLM-based chat, document processing, report generation, and code generation—that support both our clients and employees while accelerating research and innovation.
##Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate AI agents that perform real production work, with a strong focus on quality, observability, and reliability
- Develop and maintain large-scale model execution frameworks supporting batch, API, and real-time use cases
- Partner closely with data scientists to codify reusable data operations that accelerate research and development productivity
- Build cloud-native systems for continuous model training and deployment across AWS and Azure environments
- Communicate technical progress and outcomes clearly to cross-functional collaborators across the business
##Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in complex, production environments
- Strong programming skills in Python and Java; experience with TypeScript is a plus
- Proven ability to design, develop, test, and operate scalable, distributed systems
- Clear communicator with experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams
##Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and infrastructure (AWS and/or Azure)
- Familiarity with low-latency or memory-intensive applications
- Experience using Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
This position will be located in Toronto, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $86,000 - $118,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
