Competitive Marketing Specialist - Hybrid
- Are you a market analyst skilled in both competitive strategy and hands-on product testing?
- Can you bridge the gap between complex engineering and persuasive selling, turning lab data into 'win-against' strategies that resonate with B2B clients?
As a Competitive Marketing Specialist, you will report to the B2B Marketing Manager and lead Canon’s competitive strategy by testing rival equipment in our lab and creating the 'win' guides our sales teams need. Your mission is to translate market intelligence into a clear, competitive edge for our B2B channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning competitive strategies, developing action plans, and implementing initiatives, including conducting comprehensive market research on all departmental hardware and software products.
- Researching, collecting, and analyzing all B2B competitive products and marketing industry information, maintaining the product competitive pricing database, and supporting product launches
- Delivering live in-person or remote competitive demonstrations for customers and facilitating similar competitive training for salespeople.
- Supporting sales channels by responding to requests from the field for competitive information, including the development of competitive collateral pieces, in order to effectively communicate market research (including bulletins, reports, presentations, etc..)
- Maintaining and promoting the effectiveness of the competitive lab (e.g., ensuring equipment is up-to-date and relevant) by creating tools and resources that expand the lab’s availability to all sales channels across the country.
- Participating in internal/external training events, customer-facing events (i.e. Open Houses) and other events to stay informed about the market.
- Working proactively with all internal and external stakeholders to release new sales tools to the field in order to promote Canon’s competitive strengths.
To Succeed, You Will Have
- Post-secondary education in Marketing or Business
- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Strong analytical skills to analyze competitive machines and identify weaknesses.
- Proficient in time management and multitasking skills to meet deadlines and address stakeholder needs.
- Intermediate project and process management skills to support product launches and sales training initiatives.
- Intermediate technical skills, including proficiency with Google Sheets/Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas), video editing in Adobe Suite, and presentation development in Google Slides/PowerPoint.
- Proficient with Oracle and competitive comparison tools
- Advanced equipment operation skills to manage both the B2B print product line and competitor product lines.
