Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy across North America, is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in the Mississauga/Vaughan area. In this role, you will be a key advocate for workplace safety, building strong relationships across teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a positive safety culture. You will support employees through coaching and guidance, lead initiatives that enhance awareness and engagement, and work closely with colleagues, to identify and address risks. Your focus on communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement will help ensure a safe and supportive work environment for everyone while driving continuous improvement in the organization’s safety culture.
What will you do as a Health and Safety Specialist at Spark Power?
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs in compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulatory, company and client standards.
- Lead investigations of incidents and determine root causes and implement and the development corrective actions.
- Work closely with Operations leadership to develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs that support safe, efficient, and compliant work practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and implement necessary modifications to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for health and safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Minimum NCSO designation with 3–5 years of related experience in construction or electrical work preferred; Diploma or Certification in Occupational Health and Safety an asset; working toward CRST considered an advantage.
- Certified Internal IHSA COR Auditor.
- Experience managing third-party prequalification systems (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience managing day-to-day operations, coordinating small to medium-sized projects consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Skilled in developing and reviewing Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
