Job Description The Brookfield Private Equity Group is one of Brookfield Corporation’s primary operating groups. The Private Equity Group operates and manages assets owned through its private funds and public listed entity, Brookfield Business Partners (BBU). Our portfolio of assets primarily spans across business services, infrastructure services and industrials, located in North and South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Position Summary: The Director will join the Risk Management team within the Private Equity business group, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President. The objective of the team is to partner effectively with each of our portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to drive performance, generate value, and act as a trusted resource on risk management matters. Internal stakeholders include our finance, legal, deal, portfolio management, and investor relations teams.
The Director will work closely with the Senior Vice President and be responsible for assisting with developing, maintaining, and overseeing Brookfield Private Equity enterprise risk management and ESG programs across our portfolio of global businesses. This role provides the foundation, guidance and exposure towards a successful and challenging career, including potential to grow within the Risk & ESG team and within the broader Brookfield team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent interpersonal skills, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity and has a strong foundation in analytical thinking.
**Responsibilities:
Sustainability Specific Responsibilities:**
- Take responsibility for ESG management; including managing, analyzing, presenting and monitoring ESG KPIs
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports for public and private fund investor purposes, including annual ESG Reports
- Frequent communication with operating asset finance teams and with public and private fund finance teams to support investor relations, regulatory compliance reporting, board reporting, and ESG initiatives
- Support and advise the investment and operations teams on ESG related initiatives including investment due diligence and value creation opportunities
- Research and communicate evolving ESG frameworks, networks, and regulations and synthesize the information for the portfolio management team
- Manage, analyze and monitor greenhouse gas emissions inventory and forecasting for Brookfield Private Equity
- Assess and validate climate-related risks and opportunities for each portfolio company
- Manage, analyze and monitor health & safety related incidents on a quarterly basis for reporting
Risk Management Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly and annual risk presentations, covering anti-bribery and corruption, cybersecurity, health & safety, ESG, climate, and catastrophic risk for Brookfield senior management and our Board
- Assist in overseeing key risk management programs across the Private Equity Group, including anti-bribery and corruption, ESG, internal control over financial reporting, etc
- Support review of risk registers across portfolio companies during the business planning process
- Support the onboarding and integration of new acquisitions into Brookfield's risk management programs
- Support the business partners in executing the Group’s portfolio governance processes, including monitoring programs such as anti-bribery and corruption, internal control over financial reporting, compliance, and board governance
Requirements:
- Qualified CPA, CA is preferred, ideally with Big 4 experience and a proven track record of high performance
- Minimum 7-10 years overall professional working experience
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in related functions. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ESG management
- Demonstrated leadership ability and is a team player, willing to always support the team
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability; willingness to “dive into the details”
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, including the ability to review and update financial models and prepare high quality presentations
