Social Services Department – Long Term Care Division
Work Location: Fairview Lodge, Whitby, Ontario
Salary: $79,578 to $99,473 per annum
Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the incumbent will supervise the Environmental Services of this Long-Term Care facility (including housekeeping, laundry and maintenance services).
The incumbent will:

Provide direct supervision of Environmental Services staff
-
Assist in setting and achieving departmental and organizational goals and objectives
-
Assist in developing policies and procedures
-
Schedule employees and projects within a unionized environment
-
Liaise effectively within a multidisciplinary team
-
Monitor and ensure inventory control systems are effective and accurate
-
Conduct audits of the facility and inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the facility
-
Coordinate and monitor an effective preventative maintenance program
-
Ensure that all applicable legislation, Region of Durham policies and procedures and LTC Standards are adhered to by staff
-
Act as Manager of Environmental Services during their absence
-
Be required to work flexible hours and weekends
The successful applicant will possess:
-
Post secondary education in Environmental Services Management or equivalent education/experience
-
Knowledge of Quality Improvement processes and related tools
-
Minimum 2 years related supervisory experience in a long term care setting
-
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
-
Knowledge of Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC) best practices
-
The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
-
Working knowledge of HVAC, building systems and equipment found in a long term care setting
-
Working knowledge of WHMIS
-
Working knowledge of OH&S Act and Regulations
-
Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
Conditions of Employment
All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTC Act (O.Reg. 246/22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
