About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Access Services and under the guidance of the Access Services Librarians, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and supervising student employees within the Access Services Department. This role involves delivering high-quality information, support, and customer service to both the Carleton University community and external users. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts, based on operational needs. The incumbent performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in bibliographic searching, and in using automated systems.
- Must remain current in the rapidly changing field of information technology and be aware of databases available at Carleton.
- Ability to decipher bibliographic information in other languages is beneficial.
- Ability to work as a team member and independently.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, organize work effectively, to communicate well and to deal tactfully, efficiently, and effectively with people.
- Ability to cope with high volume workload while multitasking.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- A Bachelor's Degree plus a Library and Information Technician diploma.
- Six (6) months of related library experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
