Salary: $9,811 – 10,225 – 10,671 – 11,132 – 11,604/month (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM

This is advanced professional planning work at a supervisory level involving considerable independent judgement in the development and implementation of innovative approaches that help deliver the social spaces, programs and services that are needed in the community. The incumbent is responsible for preparing conceptual frameworks and implementation strategies to support greater access to the social infrastructure and programming necessary for individuals and the community to thrive. The position demands the application of a broad skill set in matters of social policy and community partnerships in the creation of plans and execution of projects that integrate objectives with the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP) and other plans, strategies and policies. Considerable independent judgement and action is also exercised in the planning and technical aspects of the work while unusual or highly complex technical or policy matters are referred to a supervisor for consultation. The position is responsible for supervising related professional planning and technical staff, communicating with external government agencies and social service delivery partners, and representing the City and the Department on various committees, working groups and at public meetings. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include university graduation in an appropriate discipline, plus Master’s degree in planning and considerable professional social planning experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners, and excellent analytical, consultation, communication, decision-making, and management skills are required. Prior experience in local government and/or social program delivery is an asset.
